Walkway1000
With Walkway Over the Hudson’s 15-year anniversary on the horizon, friends of the Walkway have the unique opportunity to become part of the exclusive Walkway 1000 – a group of 1,000 donors contributing $1,000 each toward the future success and strength of Walkway Over the Hudson.

Members of the Walkway 1000 become part of our vital inner circle of donors who will help shape the strategic direction of the Walkway’s into our second decade and beyond.

Thanks to the generosity of Evelyn Constantino and Royal Carting Service Company, all Walkway 1000 members will be outfitted in a special soft-shell jacket in appreciation of their support.

While New York State Parks operates the bridge, it is the Walkway Over the Hudson nonprofit organization that provides the events, programs and services on the Walkway that generate benefits for all. Contributions also allow Walkway to undertake new construction projects and add valuable amenities, while keeping the Walkway open and accessible to all of the 650,000 people that experience the bridge every year. Together, we are enhancing the Walkway experience and the quality of life in the Hudson Valley.

Crypto Currency / Bitcoin
Bitcoin isn’t for everyone. But if you invested in Bitcoin or other virtual currency prior to Jan. 1, 2021, it’s likely worth a lot more than you paid for it. Bitcoin is still one of the best-performing assets over the past five to 10 years. If you own some, you may have a very low cost basis and you should evaluate the tax implications before cashing in.
One impactful option that can save you on taxes: Using cryptocurrency to support the Walkway Over the Hudson.

What Are My Tax Benefits?
Your cryptocurrency gift to Walkway Over the Hudson qualifies for an income tax deduction for its fair market value, up to 30% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) with a five-year carryover. If you have held your cryptocurrency for more than a year, you also avoid the capital gains tax you would have paid if you sold it.

How It Works
Transfer your cryptocurrency. Work with the Walkway Over the Hudson or your donor advised fund provider to make the transfer via their online wallet tool.
